Tracy Werner founded Natural Pet Market after dealing with numerous health issues in her dogs such as allergies, arthritis, and cancer as a result of commercial dog food, chemical-laden treats, toxic cleaning supplies, pharmaceuticals with too many side-effects, and grooming products loaded with unhealthy preservatives. After searching out only the finest species appropriate products with only the highest quality ingredients for her crew she starting sharing her new finds with other concerned pet owners.
Tracy has owned Natural Pet Market – a Health Food Store for Cats and Dogs in Wheaton, IL since its inception in 2002. Her dedication to the quality of life of our companion animals is evident in not only the healthy choices and knowledgeable and friendly sales staff at the store but also in her passion for animal rescue work. She regularly volunteers as a foster home, as well as organizes fundraisers, donates money, food, and supplies to numerous local and national rescue groups. Her love of helping dogs even encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone as she posed for the Pinups for Pitbulls 2010 and 2011 calendars. Recently Tracy was appointed as Shelter Nutritional Advisor for Young at Heart Senior Cat and Dog Rescue and has studied nutrition and diet formulation under Jean Dodds, DVM.
Dogs are not only Tracy’s career but also her passion. She has completed numerous canine behavior courses, attended continuing education seminars about health and nutrition, and competed successfully in canine sports.
Personally, Tracy has been an animal lover but more specifically a dog lover ever since she can remember. Currently she has 3 rescued dogs of her own; Doby & Cady – Miniature Pinschers, and Olivia – a Boxer mix. More often than not, you will also find in her home a foster dog looking for his or her forever family.
Her love of dogs doesn’t stop there. Tracy’s tattoos largely represent her dedication to man’s best friend and the ‘sleeve’ on her left arm is fully allocated to her dogs and dogs that have passed through her life. Anchored by two swallows holding a banner that reads, “Puppy Love Forever” the sleeve consists of symbols that represent, among other things, her Golden Retriever that passed away from cancer and catapulted her research into canine health and nutrition. And paw prints, of course, lots of paw prints!
“Tracy Werner has been a miracle for our group.   I first met Tracy when she adopted her dog Dave from me 9 years ago.   Not only has she been an AMAZING mom to Dave, she has proven invaluable as the years have gone by.   She has volunteered countless hours of her time fostering many dogs, networking to find homes for dogs, giving advice to many adopters on dog/cat food and nutrition and healthcare, fundraising, and more.   She is always positive and upbeat and consistently goes above and beyond to help as many animals and rescue groups that she can.” -Catherine Hedges, Founder, Don’t Bully My Breed
